Oh, that's useful, thanks! I guess my main mistake in that battle was murder of Ludoc too fast. Some of his demons were at full HP because they had never been deployed.

Yeah, that can sometimes be lethal. On the plus side, the minions are not treated as a group after the summoner's death; so if you can manage to run away, you can hunt the rest of them down one by one.
