Thank you Ferret, it works!

I was lucky to get Profane Zar with Agony and Wrath Touch so the problem with ranged attack for mages is probably solved. Also I learned Infectious, it is fun to have Maul along with it and Terrifying :) And then I have Leech Bite for self-healing.
Not sure why I got Actaeon, probably Riposte and Pounce will make it more useful. As I learned from wizzzargh games Pounce is very good so I learn it will all melee attackers including myself.

Edit. Oh, wait, Agony has a cooldown. Ranged attack problem is not solved then :(

Well, that was a surprising death. I got a warning that I am in danger so I used a heal stone. Soon I was at low HP again but I didn't get another warning so I thought that I cannot die and used Leech Bite for healing and died on next turn. I expected that I always get the warning when I can be killed next turn :(
I kind of expected that I will die to fire monsters but didn't expect it so soon, the party was quite OP otherwise.

The warning for low HP isn't calculated based on threatened damage or anything... even if I did, your actions on the turn following the warning would potentially influence it significantly, so it would be either impossible to make reliably accurate, or would trigger at very high values constantly and give lots of false positives.

It's a VERY high threshold compared to most roguelikes (slightly less than half HP will trigger it), but you can definitely (easily even) die in one turn well before you get anywhere close to the threshold.

Do you mean getting below half HP or getting damage of size half HP during last turn? I got down to 11 HP (max HP 53) and didn't get the warning.

It tracks current HP vs. maximum HP, not damage taken. Hmm... for that to have happened, the heal stone must not have brought you out of warning range. It doesn't repeat the warning multiple times for the same instance of being in danger.

Yes, this is probably what happened. I got below 11 HP first time so +33% HP was not enough to get me close to 50%. At least I learn something from every death and also I play much faster than before because I am aware of abilities of early demons :)
