I finally beat the game for the first time and I wanted to share the build I used for anyone who is looking for ideas or may be struggling. I personally struggled a bit finding a build that worked for me.

I started with Heavy Slash, Homunculus, and the Titan's Fist relic. +2 STR, +2 VIT, +1 AGI every level up. The abilities that pretty much carry through the early levels are Fleasheater, Gluttony, and Bloodthirst. You can get all three before tower 5. You can see that I still had these skills when I finished the game. These abilities carry hard. I got REALLY lucky and found Wraith Bite on a summoner corpse. The MaxHP drain worked wonders with the passives I listed above. A decent alternative which is easily obtainable would be Leech Bite. You won't get the MaxHP but you still get heals. Leech Bite can be found on the lvl 2 Jiang Shi. With this combo I was able to steamroll to tower 20+. Around tower 20 I linked with an early Asura via Bronze Offering and he basically carried me to tower 25 where things got a bit hectic. I made the unfortunate mistake of trying to link with a Succubus inside Ammit's Sanctum. (Ammit has a WAY better MaxHP melee ability that I was not able to obtain). My Asura went down along with my healer, but fortunately I picked up a Power from a hostile Summoner Xavier. The Power helped me get back on track and eventually led me to the win. So thanks for the Power, Xavier. :D

One thing to note is, I never picked up Soul Armor, which can be very powerful if you can afford it. I personally just picked up a brand that removed weak to ice and that was it for my resistances. If you could get immune to mind from Soul Armor the later levels will be much easier. I almost got demolished by Charm and Sleep packs.

For early demons, Headless and Vikhor are very good options. I prefer headless because he accelerates turns and if you take leadership you can accelerate his turns and shred through packs. Make sure you save a copy of Fleasheater, Gluttony, and Bloodthirst to throw on him. Aside from that, make sure you have a healer with Calm and Cleanse before going into the Anomoly and you should do fine.

After anomoly for upgrades you're looking for str/vit demons to replace headless. Midochaoin is a really good option if you can find him.

Congrats on your first win :D It's always fun to hear about a player conquering the Tower for the first time. :P

Flesheater, Gluttony, and Bloodthirst is definitely a powerful combo for any melee character: so long as you can keep hitting and killing enemies, you will (barring resistance issues) gain back HP very rapidly. This is extra true for Titan's Fist users or anyone else running Aux Guard/Power, which both increase the damage and draining you do while making each HP you get back last longer. :D

Wraith Bite added on top is definitely a major boon: all the same things apply from above, except now you get MaxHP too (and you also get to drain via a different resistance, though Body and Dark resistance/immunity are not infrequently found together.)

I'm happy you were able to use a player ghost to get back on track too. :) I admit I was not fond of their implementation in other games (DCSS in particular, though they have changed some aspects of how they work in recent years) and tried to make the Demon version better, both in terms of being a fair fight, but also having rewards of use. :D

Immunity to Mind is almost a requirement for the late levels according to make winners and multi-winners. Titan's Fist can dodge the issue a little since Aux Guard gives some universal ailment protection, but on the other hand, enemies have fewer targets to aim such things at so you're bound to end up targeted often. I admit I'm a little surprised you won without even Mind Resist. I confess I'm not entirely fond of how "required" Mind Immunity ended up being, so it is nice to have a counterexample, even though I know that doesn't really change anything meaningful on that point. :D

Second win with pretty much the same build. This time I went with Soul Armor and got some mind immunity and things went smooth in the later floors. Also I was able to get the 100 power MaxHP bite. No lucky Asura or Offerings this time so I had to work my way up until I got a Power which carried me to the end.

:D Well that was quick. Congrats on another win! Was this in a row, or did you have any runs between? (I know the record doesn't say Cycle 2, but some people play on different save slots or delete instead of doing cycles I imagine.)

My cycle 2 run ended on tower 2I to a pack of Gorgons. :lol: I played like 6 games inbetween the wins. Most of those runs died fairly early on.
