fullscreen flickering on Linux...

Postby orbisvicis » Sun Jun 23, 2019 2:59 am

I thought I'd try to get back into the game (since 2015) but when fullscreen there is a horrible flickering border around the game. Any changes to Screenmanager Resolution Height or Screenmanager Resolution Width via unity3d/FerretDev.Org/Demon/prefs are reverted to a tiny 864x1152 bordered window. Starting the game fullscreen just results in that tiny window embedded into a black flickering border. Making the game fullscreen via F11 (with a pristine prefs files) once launched makes the flickering border include shrunken flickering textures from the game. Option UnitySelectMonitor doesn't do anything.

System:
  • Fedora 30 x86_64
  • Intel i7-3517U / HD Graphics 4000
  • GNOME Shell 3.32.2
  • Wayland and X11
  • Demon 11_26_2018 and Demon Brand Test 9

Re: fullscreen flickering on Linux...

Postby Ferret » Sun Jun 23, 2019 2:25 pm

Hey there! 2015! That was a long time ago, but welcome back!

I will try to help you out, but regrettably, Unity does not officially support Fedora: Ubuntu is the only Linux distribution Unity fully supports. This means there may be nothing I can do on my end to resolve the issue, as it may be an incompatibility between Unity and Fedora.

That said, there's still at least one thing we can try that's been of some help with a couple of different Linux problems before:

Try running Demon with each of the following command line options, one at a time, and see if you get different results.
-force-glcore32
-force-opengl
-force-glcore45

Thanks for the report, and good luck!
